Vecova would like to congratulate the Province of Alberta and the University of Calgary for the transfer of land that will enable the development of the Research Park. As the first facility in the Park, we have been an integral part of the Park for over 50 years. We look forward to working with the Province and the University to create an inclusive, innovation hub within the City of Calgary that will benefit all citizens.
Vecova is planning a new inclusive facility on its current site, owned by the City of Calgary. We are presently at schematic design phase of our planning process and are excited for our future within the Park. We look forward to working with the University and our neighbours as the planning progresses to create greater physical connections to and through our site. Our new facility will accelerate meaningful outcomes for persons with disabilities in health and wellness, at work, in safe and secure living environments, and in active engagement with communities.
We look forward to continuing our research connection with the University particularly around social innovation and enterprise. We have been finding new ways and new enterprises to drive social impact for over 50 years – by innovating, inventing and challenging the conventional way of thinking about how to connect, support and empower the disabled community.
Vecova has a commitment for a long-term lease from the Province for the 2-acre parcel where our Bottle Depot is currently located. We are working with the City of Calgary to secure a long-term lease on our current site.
Ability is how we connect and contribute to the world. We believe everyone should have an active and engaged quality of life that enables meaningful connections and contribution to the world. We believe that the University shares this view. A disability can affect anyone at anytime… and a sense of community can make all the difference in maintaining our capacity. We believe that without an inclusive society, our differences divide us. Instead, we choose to be united by kindness and progressive action. Inclusion in the workplace, and in the community helps us all. This is the heart of a good society. This is how we make a difference. How we make a better world. This is the work of Vecova.
