Those with serious medical conditions should be accompanied by an individual knowledgeable of their condition and responsible for their direct supervision in the facility.

If a customer requires the assistance of a support worker/aide, they must provide active supervision while in the facility. Support is defined as requiring personal care and assistance with mobility aids such as lifts and wheelchairs. One support worker/aide admission is included while supporting a customer in the pool or program. Admission charges will apply for additional support workers/aides.

• 10 years of age and over may be unaccompanied in the pool
• 8-9 years must be accompanied in the pool area but can be in the water alone.
• 7 years and under must get a wristband, be accompanied in the water and be within arm’s reach at all times.

As per Environmental Public Health regulations, all children 36 months and under are required to wear a swim diaper and waterproof pool pants to protect the water from accidental contaminations. We ask that all customers who require bladder and/or bowel protection to please use a swim diaper and rubber pants.

Vecova’s Aquatics, Health and Fitness does not have a family change room. Children 8 years of age or older are required to use the appropriate gender change room.

The Assisted Change Room is for the use of customers who require assistance from a support worker/aide of the opposite gender while using our pool facilities.

Before entering the facility with your group, please check in with facility staff. Specific information for your group will be provided at that time. Arrangements for your group should be made with the facility staff prior to your arrival. The group caregiver/leader(s) are responsible for their group while in the facility and must effectively supervise the group at all times.

To protect guest’s privacy, cell phones, cameras and other forms of communication devices are not permitted in change rooms. Failure to comply may result in suspension of recreation privileges. Photos can be taken of your children while in a program. A Vecova employee reserves the right to view the photo to ensure the privacy of others.

Please remember to act in a respectful manner at all times and adhere to the posted rules and regulations, including wearing appropriate attire and footwear at all times. Abusive behavior and language will not be tolerated and may result in the suspension of recreation privileges.

Parking is free while using Vecova’s Aquatics, Health and Fitness facilities, however, you must obtain a parking pass from Consumer Services on weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Failure to display a parking pass may result in a $40.00 or more ticket from the City of Calgary.

Lockers are not coin operated. Locks can be rented at the front desk for $1.00 or you can bring your own.

Please Note: lockers are for day use only and locks will be cut off at close and lockers emptied.

No penalty will be incurred for withdrawals made for medical reasons. For withdrawals made after the program start date, a credit will be issued to your account. The credit will be prorated from the time Vecova is notified of the withdrawal. Refunds or credits will be issued once a doctor’s note is received. In all cases, the doctor’s note must be received within 2 weeks following withdrawal notice.

By participating in programs and/or using Vecova’s Aquatics, Health and Fitness facilities, you are freely and voluntarily assuming risks and hazards inherent to the programs, activities and facilities therein and acknowledge you or your child may suffer personal and potentially serious injury. Ensure you understand the risks involved and that you are prepared to assume the element of risk.

Personal information collected is in accordance with Alberta’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA), Alberta’s Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIP Act), the Health Information Act (HIA) and Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL), which governs the collection, use and disclosure of information under the control or custody of Vecova.

You can help us keep our pool clean of Recreational Water Illnesses (RWI’s) in a variety of different ways.

• Have a hot soapy shower before entering the pool.
• Ensure everyone uses the washroom before entering the pool and take them on regular washroom breaks during swimming.
• Do not come to the pool when ill or have recently had diarrhea.
• Do not eat close to swim time.
• The Lifesaving Society identifies a potential low risk of infants ingesting pool water if breastfed in the pool. If the infant vomits in the water, it is a contamination and the pool must be shut down.
• Ensure infants (age 36 months and under) and anyone with incontinence concerns wear both a swim diaper and rubber pants.
• Change diapers in the change room, rather than on deck to prevent the spread of germs.
• Let staff know immediately if a contamination is seen (vomit, fecal matter, etc.).

• We adhere to the Alberta Public Health Act.
• We submit weekly water samples to Alberta Health Services for testing.
• We test the water daily.
• We close and disinfect the facility and equipment when a contamination occurs.
• We notify guests as soon as possible if a pool closure occurs due to contamination via our website.

Recreational Water Illnesses (RWI’s) are illnesses caused by germs that contaminate bodies of water including swimming pools. RWI’s are introduced to the pool through 3 types of contamination: solid fecal, vomit and diarrhea.

Once contaminated the pool must be shut down for a sufficient length of time for our staff to disinfect change rooms, equipment and the pool itself. Shut down may take from one to 16 hours to allow the chlorine to disinfect the pool. These shutdowns affect the services we provide, and can result in the cancellation of programs, lessons and public swim times.
