If you are not part of the Persons with Developmental Disabilities (PDD) program, please visit Community Connects YYC to access our Mental Health Services.

Taking care of your mental health is important. We have professionals to help you get the right support at the right time.

Vecova’s Mental Health Services clinic provides mental health support and education to persons with disabilities and their support networks. Their services include:

  • Individual counselling  
  • Group counselling 
  • Creative Coping Group 
  • Dementia Caregiver Group 
  • Art therapy 
  • Educational and peer support groups 
  • Behavioural planning and consultation 
  • Staff training and resources 
  • Supervision of graduate practicum students and provisional psychologists 
  • Education series

Creative Coping

Creative Coping Group is an 8-week in-person group offered to consumers with PDD funding. This art-therapy-based group invites participants to learn about themselves and connect to their emotions using various art materials and activities. Participants are encouraged to express themselves through various art forms and are invited to share their experiences and feelings with the group. The group also includes lessons on the importance of self-care. We guide participants through various coping skills to help them connect the importance of understanding our emotions and knowing how to manage them when they get too loud.

The Support Worker's Toolbox

This educational series will explore strategies to support you as a Person working in a Support Worker role. The presentation will guide you through a step-by-step process to help build your resiliency toolbox. This is a free program. Prior registration required.
