Strength in Art

Join us at Vecova’s 2019 Strength in Art Show & Workshop!

When: Friday, June 7, 2019 from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
Where: Vecova’s Atrium (3304 33 St, Calgary, AB)
Admission: Free

This free event will celebrate our community and the incredible talent of persons of all abilities. In partnership with Humainologie and Empathy Week 2019, Vecova will be hosting this event where artists of all abilities will display and sell their artwork to the public, and speak with attendees about their creative process and inspiration.

This event will feature artists from Vecova, and any funds raised by the sale of the artwork will be kept directly by the artists.

Strength in Art: Painting Workshop

During the event, a free painting workshop will be presented by one of our featured artists. To participate in the workshop, you must register in advance online:

Strength in Abilities Run

Vecova’s 4th Annual Strength in Abilities Run is returning in 2019!

When: Sunday, June 23, 2019 – Registration opens at 8:30 a.m.
Where: 3101 Bow River Pathway – Edworthy Park

Mark your calendars! Vecova’s 4th Annual Strength in Abilities Run is returning in 2019 on Sunday, June 23. We are excited to invite you to run, walk or roll in support of Vecova’s programs and services for persons with disabilities during our 50th Anniversary year!

This event is open to persons of all abilities and will take place on the accessible Bow River Pathway.

Paint in the Park – Canmore


Vecova is teaming up with the Canmore Museum and Geoscience Centre’s Art in the Park market to host a series of Paint in the Park sessions in support of persons with disabilities! On Saturday, July 27 and Sunday, July 28, join as at the North West Mounted Police Barracks for a series of facilitated paint sessions by local artists and Vecova clients. After your session, browse through the Art in the Park market to view art and goods from local artists!

Each session will be facilitated by an artist, who will guide participants through the process of painting the art prompt. The painting sessions are open for people of all abilities and skill level. Materials will be provided for participants, and volunteers will be available for assistance during the session. Space is limited in each session to 30 people so be sure to register early!

Painting Sessions

Saturday, July 27:

  • 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
  • 1:00 – 2:00 p.m.

Sunday, July 28:

  • 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
  • 1:00 – 2:00 p.m.

Cost:

  • Adult: $15.00
  • Child/Senior: $5.00
  • Family: $30.00
