What to expect
Celebration of Inclusion
Vecova’s Disability Employment Awareness Month (DEAM) event is an opportunity to recognize and celebrate the value that individuals with disabilities bring to the workforce. This event will highlight inclusive employment practices, showcase success stories, and honour employers who are creating accessible and equitable workplaces. Join us as we engage leaders, community members, and partners in advancing a stronger, more inclusive community.
A welcoming, accessible event with a mix of inspiration, practical tools, and direct employer connections:
Program highlights
Awards ceremony: Recognizing employers and employees demonstrating leadership in workplace inclusion.
Employer networking: Meet local employers actively hiring and learn about inclusive roles and supports.
Light refreshments will be available for all guests.
Deam Open House
Our Open House is a welcoming and interactive addition to our DEAM celebration, where everyone is invited to drop in, enjoy light refreshments, and learn more about inclusive and meaningful employment opportunities. Whether you’re an employer interested in signing up as an employment partner or looking to connect with people ready to be hired, this is your chance to build valuable connections and take the next step toward advancing workplace inclusion.
Why this matters
Disability employment is a community-strength issue. DEAM focuses attention on the gap between talent and opportunity, and on concrete actions employers can take to close it. This event:
- Increases awareness of this unique talent pool and Alberta’s employment service providers.
- Demonstrates how disability is a form of diversity that strengthens workplaces.
- Creates direct employer-to-candidate connections and reduces recruitment friction.
- Builds new employer–service provider partnerships and supports practical next steps for inclusion.
This year’s event is supported by an AEFN DEAM grant and in partnership with AccessHR and Calgary Winter Club, helping us amplify impact across Calgary and Alberta.
