No, Vecova is not closing. While our former facility has closed as part of a hub-and-spoke model, our core services continue in new locations and partner spaces across Calgary.

Vecova services run in multiple sites across Calgary, including:

  • Vecova Central Hub @ Beltline – Downtown Calgary Administrative and Program Hub
  • Vecova NW @ Kaleidoscope – Northwest Community & Recreation Program Location
  • Airdrie
  • Canmore

These locations allow us to deliver flexible, accessible services citywide.

Vecova’s Employment Services help individuals with disabilities find meaningful work and thrive in the workplace. This includes:

  • Job coaching and workplace supports
  • Skills development and training for job readiness
  • Employer partnerships to open opportunities
  • Tailored programs such as youth employment, newcomer supports, and on‑the‑job integration services

Employment is about much more than a job; it’s about independence, confidence, and belonging.

Vecova’s Housing Services help individuals with disabilities find and maintain safe, accessible, supported homes. This includes:

  • Long-term supported living
  • Assistance navigating housing systems
  • Resource coordination to enhance stability and quality of life

Vecova offers mental health supports to help individuals live well and engage in their communities. Services may include:

  • One‑on‑one counselling
  • Support for life transitions and coping
  • Workshops and group supports

These programs are person‑centred and designed to meet evolving needs across the lifespan.

Vecova provides a variety of training programs designed for both individual and organizational learning needs. These include:

Medication Administration Training

  • Prepares learners to administer medications safely and responsibly
  • Developed by registered nurses and aligned with best practices and accreditation standards

Specialized Health Training

  • Offers skills related to consumer care such as dysphagia management, diabetic diets, aging and dementia care, lifting & repositioning, and more

Other training offerings include:

  • Leadership development
  • Intercultural competence and diversity training
  • Workplace readiness skills

These programs support personal development, workforce participation, and capacity‑building in disability‑inclusive environments.

While Vecova no longer operates its own pool or fitness centre, inclusive recreation and adapted wellness programs continue through community partnerships. These include:

  • Adapted sports and activities (FUNdamnetal Movement, Mixed Ability Soccer & Badminton, Adapted Recreation and more)
  • Social & community programs (Early Dementia Wellness, Creative Kitchen, Explore Abilities, Club Vecova, Creative Coping Skills and more)
  • Partnerships & collaborations with City of Calgary Pools and Recreation Centres for Adapted Aquatics

No, Vecova is not Vecna (nor Volvo, Velcro, or Voldemort). There are no Demogorgons, Portals to the Upside Down, or creepy tentacles, just community programs, services, and supports for people with disabilities.
