Looking for a unique way to give back to your community? Adopt-A-House offers organizations, groups or individuals the opportunity to contribute to their community today.
Vecova currently provides living support services to 98 persons living with a disability and/or complex need. This can vary from a group home environment, to supportive roommates and independent living. Broken down, there are 57 clients living in Vecova owned, leased or client/family owned homes, 31 living with supportive roommates, and 10 in an independent living situation. Ensuring that the homes owned and/or managed by Vecova are up to correct standards and that the individuals are receiving sufficient support to live either independently or with support staff requires extensive funds, some of which often exceed Vecova’s budget.
Homes that provide support to people with disabilities incur higher than average maintenance costs due to wear, tear and a limited maintenance budget. For example, some of our couches have tears, tiles are cracked, BBQs are old and no longer work, walls need new paint, etc.
How you can help:
You and your friends or colleagues can get together to raise money (have a bake sale, hold a friendly challenge) to buy items and new materials for the homes. You can also volunteer to complete projects inside the home using the new materials.
- Couches and comfy single chairs
- Stair lift (really needed)
- 3 homes needs new blinds throughout
- Deck and furniture repair
- Paint and painters
- 2 garden sheds need upgrades of replacement
- 5 homes need new tiles to be bought and installed
- Tables and chairs
- Dishwashers, stoves and a refrigerator
