Supported Employment assist clients to secure and maintain gainful and meaningful work in the areas and careers of their choice. Supports are provided as required to promote success and longevity. Supports are:

  • driven by clients’ interests and confirmed through exposure, opportunity and experience
  • focused on community-based options; potential employers are screened to ensure that the job placement will be safe, supportive and inclusive
  • provided in order to secure appropriate employment
  • provided in order to assist in maintaining the placement
Types of Supports
  • employment preparation: assists clients in developing skills for job placements, e.g. developing a resume, interviewing skills, transportation, on the job orientation and training, etc.
  • employment placement: assists clients with maintaining employment, e.g., address issues of safety, skill, ability, training, work conflicts, etc., as needed to maintain a positive work environment
